Day 268 - Greetings!

Taken inside Grand Central Terminal's Main concourse, this picture is from the end of the light show (click to see video) played on the ceiling every half-hour.
The picture pretty much sums it up, and I'll say it again:
SEASONS GREETINGS FROM NYC (and Amy's daily photo!)

Day 267 - SNOW!

Saturday, December 19, 2009
Photobucket
IT FINALLY SNOWED TODAY
(and continues to snow as I type this)
Although it didn't start sticking until late evening, it snowed ALL DAY!
and it was beautiful, and white, and all around fantastic!
I snapped this shot while walking to my new favorite bubble tea/organic coffee place, Tease
and then I realized this place, Bagel Cafe, was the first place D and I ate a NY bagel on our first trip to NY together in the beginning of 2007 (2 months before we moved here)
So, not only is this picture awesome because of the snow, it is also great because it brings back some wonderful memories!

Day 266 - Mr Fox

Photobucket
Today's picture makes me happy in so many ways!
The other day, a friend who lives in CT, posted some photos on facebook he had taken the day before in NYC, they were of the set of the Fantastic Mr. Fox! I immediately commented and asked "where in the world he saw this", "Bergdorf Men's" he replied.
Needless to say (or maybe it is needed to be said), these windows have been on my mind for the past few days, and today, TODAY my friends, is the day I had been waiting for!
I walked on over to 58th and 5th with a mission in mind: to see those Mr. Fox windows!
Turns out Bergdorf Men's has TWELVE windows full of set displays from the ACTUAL production!
I'm a Wes Anderson fanatic - have been FOREVER - so I was giddily snapping photo after photo of the windows (while trying to stay warm in the "feels like 12degrees" weather).
If you would like to see the rest of the photos, along with all the other Holiday windows I've shot this past week, click here.

Day 265 - Jazz Band

Thursday, December 17, 2009
Photobucket
Tonight brought yet another holiday party (this time, unexpected!) I was woken up from my nap with a phone call from a friend saying, "come to my work party, there's free sushi and crab cakes, and lots of yummy food, and pretty martinis and wine and beer". AND since I was just dreaming about sushi for dinner, how could I pass it up?
So, off I went, on a 5 minute bus ride.
The food was delicious, with a wide variety to choose from, for dessert there was a chocolate fountain (love!) and the entertainment was this jazz band!
Not a bad night, I'd say.
Considering I was planning on hibernating :)

Day 263 - Lord and Taylor

Photobucket
I went to shoot some of the city's most famous holiday window displays, and I must say that Lord and Taylor's windows won it for me.
No silly narration, or strange fantastical story-line, just beautiful windows that made me ooo and ahhh like a child. I took so many pictures, and if you wish to see the entire album click here, but this one scene in particular stood out to me. An old-time photo shoot.
I love the details, right down to the old portraits hanging on the wall.
Lord and Taylor's windows were so cheerful and Dicksonian, and I am a sucker for the Victorian Era.

Day 262 - 23rd

Photobucket
This great architectural find I stumbled upon happens to be home to the NYPD's 23rd precinct.
But, I'd like to think of it as an old castle, instead.

Day 260 - SANTACON!

Photobucket
An event to go down in the history books, Santacon, a convention of santas.
(or a day when people get together drink alot, smoke a lot, and participate in debauchery of all sorts and use dressing up like santa as an excuse?) ya know, either way.
I stopped by, only to snap a few pics (I could only stand the smell of pot, vomit and beer mixed together for so long), where the many groups convened, Washington Square Park.
So, here you have it, the naughty santas, back-dropped back the famous NYC arch. LOVE.IT.
